5 Ways To Wear Tie-Dye For Plus Size Bodies
Tie-Dye is literally EVERYWHERE right now. Like, every store is carrying something tie-dye, promise you. Being plus size my whole life, I’ve been pretty trend averse. Just as soon as I get comfortable putting my plus size body into one trend – wham BOOM suddenly there is a brand new one for me to get used to. Like tiny sunglasses never looked good on my round, plus size face. I was pretty trepidatious about wearing tie-dye – so I decided to do what I do best (make some outfit collages!!) and see how plus size bodies can get in on the tie-dye trend too!
Plus Size Tie-Dye : Casual Outfit
Tie-dye is so easy to wear casually. Denim and white sneakers are a no-brainer here. We found this super cute tie-dye pink skirt (available up to 3X for plus size gals) and paired it with a baby blue sweater, a denim jacket and white sneakers. Keep this look fun and fresh with a graphic tote bag. I think denim jackets make any outfit more age appropriate and outfitted and I think this one really makes the tie-dye skirt a lot more elevated and polished!
Boho Outfit
Dark tie-dye is TOTALLY a thing. When most people think about tie-dye they think of hot pink, neon yellow and splashes of electric blue. Au contraire my friends! I love this look because the color palette of black and brown keep it looking chic! Adding some fun southwestern inspired accessories (like the fringe bag and moody jewelry) give this look a vintage rocker vibe. Keeping the look monochromatic make the tie-dye less overwhelming – if you’re concerned about looking too trend-happy, this is the look for you!
Body Con Outfit
Can tie-dye be ultra femme? Or dare we say, sexy? Absolutely! Find pieces that contour your body and show off your curves! I love this blouse (available in both plus sizes and straight sizes!) and the ruching down the center. This denim pencil skirt is the ultimate in sexy girl goes hippie (Imagine Christina Hendricks’ character from Mad Men at Woodstock – yowza!) and is a wonderful wardrobe basic for spring and summer. We kept this look spring appropriate by adding cream colored accessories (THAT GUCCI BAG – *CLUTCHES PEARLS*) and light, natural makeup. Perfect for a day with the girls!
Plus Size Tie-Dye : Lounge Outfit
The absolute EASIEST way to wear this trend? Lounge wear! . From sweatshirts to yoga pants, you won’t have any trouble finding the trend in loungewear! Keep this look polished and fresh (think a cozy Sunday Funday with your BFF) by adding luxurious sleep bottoms, some fun coordinating slippers and everyone’s fave trend revival : the scrunchie. Your Uber Eats delivery guy wont’ know what hit him!
C’mon, tie-dye was made for denim, cool shades, backpacks and sandals. This look takes me back to the 90’s, dude! Want to take this classic Venice beach vibe to your new grown-up life? Add some designer sunglasses, and dainty yellow-gold jewelry. Suddenly you’re a lot less surfer and way more chic. Wide leg denim is another way to update your denim wardrobe – and hot tip? This outfit look AMAZING with denim cutoff shorts too!
I can’t WAIT to see how you wear your plus size tie-dye, as always – DM me your looks on Instagram!
