Plus Size Boho – Rosey Blair @roseybeeme
Plus size style seems to cover a TON of personal style genres. Pin-ups, streetwear lovers, capsule wardrobe queens – there are stores for them all. But, where to shop for Plus Size Boho styles? I’ve been known to squeeze into Free People dresses ( a ton of them are oversized – believe me, I am a plus size 3X and I have worn their non plus size L), but I can’t seem to find a store that explicitly sells only plus size boho styles.
Today I am compiling a list of my favorite places to shop for plus size boho options – and I think you’ll spy a few of your favorites!
Where to shop for Plus Size Boho Style
Modcloth has been committed to stocking plus size styles up to size 28/4X for awhile now. They typically focus on retro styles – but have since focused on expanding to more wearable looks. However, they always add a retro-whimsical touch to their clothing – and that makes Modcloth a great place to shop for boho outfits. I love Modcloth’s colorful, patterned textiles ( embracing color and pattern is SUPER important to styling boho looks) but they also have AMAZING accessories. You can definitely find everything you need for an entire outfit.
Tip: If you like southwestern touches to your boho looks, try a tool leather bag, or a western style blouse.
Nordstrom’s selection of plus size boho garments is legitimately AWESOME. Researching this post definitely burnt a bit of a hole in my pocket. I love how the website is formatted, and the outfitting guides for each item, make it so easy to build an entire stylish look. It’s definitely a no-brainer. Nordstrom has a ton of great plus size brands available on the website – and with the Anniversary Sale coming up, you’re sure to stash a lot of boho looks for a killer price!
Tip: Nordstrom stocks a ton of Lucky Brand items – so grab a fabulous peasant blouse and pair with some high waisted denim and cognac colored booties and you’re good to go!
You guys already know about my love for Anthropologie and you know how I feel about Anthro’s plus size line so this is a no-brainer. Anthropologie is THE SPOT for elevated boho fashion, lifestyle and home furnishings. Keep checking the website because they are constantly adding new plus size items – it never stops! And watch out for sales, if the prices seem a little too steep right now, I guarantee you it wont belong before your fave items are on sale, then sale-on-sale.
Tip: Visiting a location in person that carries the plus size line will be HIGHLY rewarding, especially if you’re shopping the sale room. If a sale item is out of stock online, it will likely be in stock at the store locations. We are in the early stages of this brand’s plus size offerings, so a lot of them will be discounted quickly!
A one stop shop for shoes, jewelry, apparel and other accessories – British retailer ASOS has a ton of plus size boho options. I always make sure to peruse the accessories on the site as well – I’ve gotten a ton of awesome belts from ASOS – and they usually have awesome plus size options.
Tip: Visit this site a ton! They are always getting new styles and the sales are bomb!
This list wouldn’t be complete without Torrid – the OG spot for on trend plus size styles. I think over the years I’ve really noticed their plus size offerings. Torrid loves a maxi dress, a third piece (think kimonos, and cool crocheted long-line vests) and has a TON of awesome wide-fit shoes. If you’re new to your boho style journey, why not dip a toe in with one of Torrid’s floral kimonos. They make great swim cover ups and also look amazing with a white tee and jeans!
Tip: Torrid always has great graphic band tees. If you’re looking to add some edge to your boho look – grab a Rolling Stones (or any other retro band ), tuck it into some cut-off shorts and layer on allllll the turquoise jewelry for a fun boho rocker look.
Thinking about throwing a boho wedding? This is the BEST place to find some plus size boho bridesmaid dresses. While the website hasn’t expanded all their apparel to include plus size – they have stunning more formal boho offerings. I love the range of colors, cuts and the simplicity of each dress. These are amazing pieces to really make your own with accessories and personal style.
Tip: Grab a beautiful formal dress and make it more casual with your favorite denim jacket, flat sandals, and a great desert hat.
There you have it! Maybe one day us plus size gals will have our own boho shop to frequent – COME ON FREE PEOPLE, GIVE ME SOME PLUS SIZES!! Until then, we can shop all around to create a perfect free spirited outfit. Also, never rule out thrift stores, resale shops or indie makers/designers on Etsy!
